Privacy on CivicConnect

Who we are
CivicConnect is run by Afribot Ventures Ltd, Nairobi. Each campaign page belongs to the aspirant named on it. Afribot provides the same tools to every aspirant and never shares one campaign's information with another.
Following a campaign
- Following needs no name, phone number or account.
- When you tap Follow, your phone creates a random code and keeps it. We store only a scrambled version of that code, which cannot be linked to you or to other campaigns you follow.
- The campaign sees how many people follow it, not who they are. Public counts below 5 are hidden.
- Tap “Stop following” on the page at any time and your follow is deleted.
Sending your views to a campaign
- Your message goes only to that campaign's team. It is anonymous unless you choose to leave a name or number. If the aspirant has given their party full permission, the party may read the message text (never your photo, name or number).
- If you add a photo, we remove its location and camera details before storing it. Only the campaign's owner, admins and moderators can see it, never a political party and never the public. If a moderator sends a message to Afribot for review (for example a legal concern), Afribot's review staff can see that message and its photo, and the photo is kept until the review ends.
- We do not store your network address with your message. To stop abuse we keep a scrambled form of it, not linked to your message, for up to 24 hours. Our hosting provider keeps network logs for a short time for security and abuse prevention.
- Photos are deleted within 90 days after the campaign reviews them (7 days if rejected), and at the latest 30 days after the election, unless the campaign keeps a photo on an approved message, then no later than 12 months after the election.
- The one-time code that links your photo to your message is deleted as soon as it is used, or after 10 minutes.
Visits, shares and QR scans
We count visits, shares and poster scans as numbers only. We do not store your IP address, device details or location with these counts. To stop abuse we keep a scrambled form of your connection address for up to 24 hours.
